Raffigura il santo in aspetto giovanile, a due terzi di persona, rivestito di pelle di tigre, su fondo scuro, con il braccio destro che sostiene una croce, formata da una canna, e con il sinistro posato sopra una pietra e reggente un cartiglio con il motto: Ecce Agnus Dei, in caratteri romani.

In un antico inventario della Spezieria della Santa Casa, depositato presso l’Archivio Storico, è annotato come opera di Guido Reni. Il dipinto proviene dal piano superiore della Sala del Tesoro, da dove fu rimosso nel 1884 per essere collocato nella prima sala del Museo. Nello stesso anno fu restaurato, foderato e posto in una nuova cornice da Pietro Kerne e Giuseppe Missaghi, il quale ridipinse gran parte del braccio sinistro che mancava per una lacerazione della tela.

It represents the saint in his youthful aspect, two-thirds of a person, covered in tiger skin, on a dark background, with his right arm supporting a cross, formed by a reed, and with the left placed on a stone and holding a scroll with the motto: Ecce Agnus Dei, in Roman characters.

In an ancient inventory of the Apothecary of the Holy House, deposited in the Historical Archive, it is noted as a work by Guido Reni. The painting comes from the upper floor of the Treasury Room, from where it was removed in 1884 to be placed in the first room of the Museum. In the same year it was restored, lined and placed in a new frame by Pietro Kerne and Giuseppe Missaghi, who repainted much of the left arm which was missing due to a tear in the canvas.
